We were told by Abel to check out the Bayview and Hunter's Point area. No luck. He mentioned to check the city's parking ticket database and we found our van had a parking ticket issued and we found it abandoned less than a mile away from where it was stolen. No damage. It's home!

1990 Vanagon Westfalia Camper (Blue)
California License Plate:

Theft Deterrent Installed: The vehicle had a steering wheel club on. A kill switch engaged and the battery terminal disconnected using a battery quick disconnect terminal.

Added Details:
Rocky Mountain Westy front/rear bumpers and rear spare tire swing away. Black lower rocker panels. Gowesty black alloy wheels. Single round headlight front grill from an earlier model Vanagon.

So they spent all that time to get around your anti theft measures and only drove it a mile?!? Glad you got it back!

I'm going to be installing a kill switch in my van soon, and I'm pretty shocked they bypassed all this stuff on this van. what other methods are recommended beyond this? I'm always extremely paranoid mine will get stolen when we're out. I keep it in a garage full time so it's less exposed on a regular basis.

Not sure yet how it was stolen but Clubs can be cut fairly easily. As far as a battery disconnect, most thieves steal the battery to resell so they know where they're located. If they don't hear the van turn over then that's probably the first thing they look at. A battery disconnect can be jumpered pretty easily. Hopefully this on gets returned soon.
